Rachel's Daily Diary
7 07 pm pst [ visulaize me ]
These two pictures I took this morning when I woke up. The rest I took late in the morning hours before I went to sleep. Many were naturally blurry (I apparently don't have the hang of my mum's camera), so I tweaked them extensively. Well, that isn't true, since I also tweaked the non-blurry ones. I love to play. Enjoy! "Objects as they exist in time the clean eye and camera give us. Not falsified by 'seeing'." - Jim Morrison
I currently cannot move any of the images from my camera to my computer. But I am going to scrape together my birthday money and get a firewire card fo that I am all hooked up. I have already had my stint on how gadgets breed the need for more gadgets. |

I have high cheek bones. I got them from my mother. My father likes to pinch them.
This image makes me look like I am wearing pink lipstick. I don't own any pink lipstick. I have dark luscious red lipstick -- the only make-up I will wear. My father refers to my red lipstick and finger nail polish as trollop red. From Merriam-Webster's

"The loveliest of faces are to be seen by moonlight, when one sees half with the eye and half with the fancy." - Persian Proverb
I love quotes. And I love eyes. I have large dark grey eyes.
The only online journal I regularly read is Catherine Jamieson's Naked Eye.
I used to disount compliments on my eyes, for they are often too dark for even their color to be seen. But they change. At times they are blue and at times they are green. I have come to look forward to Matthew's report on my changing shades. |

10 34 pm pst [ news from our world ] I couldn't decide whether to title this entry news from our weird world or news from our wired world. Slashdot recently ran an article about a blind man who got a camera implanted into his brain to see with. The article caught my attention because my mother is in the special ed field and because one of my more persistent interest in the mechanizing of people.
Another company has invented an electronic nose.

11 11 pm pst [ these images ] I'd like to do daily photos and a weekly audio-visual piece. I like to manipulate my images, because i think day after day of straight images of my face would bore everyone. I don't have a tripod, so I don't have much oportunity to take anything but handheld shots. Eventually, I would like to do more full body shots. I clearly don't have a good hang on how to shoot myself in an attractive way. I shot pictures from lots of angles to try to better understand how they change the shape of my face. After that, I have to learn lighting. All of these skills pertain to jobs, one of which which I have to find soon. And after several days with my mum, I am enjoying a quiet night alone with only my own heartbeat ringing in my ears. |

The very bright flash made my eyes look incredibly light. I think I would look rather disturbing if my eyes were actually this color.

This series of images was meant to focus on my eyes. I get a lot wrinkles around my eyes when I smile really hard. My cheeks bunch up and I get deep grooves around my mouth.
Matthew has two smiles. He has a regular smile, which he uses 95% of the time, and then his smile which involves wrinkling the skin around his eyes, which is his super happy smile. I am sure I will never be able to take a photo of his beautiful wrinkley smile, because taking photos will never make him super happy. I still love the man, even if he doesn't like me snapping shots of him. |
