9 49 pm pst [ walking ]
I called Alexandra a few days ago. I told her I wanted to get together. She said she remembered me telling her that my brother and I had walked to Juice Club (several miles). She said she wanted to do that. I agreed.
Alexandra is a breath of fresh air. Our conversations are always serious and insightful -- and most importantly, laced with laughter.
We walked in the hot sun, catching up on each other's lives. She understood my funk about being out of contact with friends, though perhaps not so much my laziness about getting a job. My orange juice blended with strawberries and vitamins was delicious.
When we had finally trekked back home, and sat for a while sipping ice water, she mentioned that she had to go to the mall to return a pair of shoes. I said I had been meaning to go to the mall to buy a jigsaw puzzle [I promised Matthew's mom a really hard one!] We took off. I haven't been out shopping with a girlfriend in at least half a year. It was delightful, and I couldn't resist two pairs of cheap dress shoes [Payless gets me every time...]
I told Alexandra that I had considered making a resolution to take a half hour walk every day if I hadn't gotten some other form of exercise. She said she could tell I needed I needed a walk. I had been so inspired, I did arm exercises this morning with my nine pound weights.
We reminisced about elementary school and horseback riding. Lord, how I miss riding. I hope to take that up again.
I told her I wanted to go hiking in the State Park with her. She said she would need barbeque chicken. I said I would buy her a chicken. She said she couldn't make me do that. I said I would only buy a chicken for her. "What does that mean?" she asked with a smile. "I have to ponder that." I wished her a safe drive as she left.
