8 21 pm pst [ a productive one ]
I am heavily engrossed in The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. Walking yesterday made me tired, so I finished reading a turned out the light before midnight. I was sure today would be a productive one.
I woke up at four in the morning for no apparent reason, and I absolutely could not fall back asleep. I was angry. After tossing and turning for far too long, I flipped on the light and got in another hour of reading. Then I tried for sleep again, and after much unhappiness, I finally drifted back into dreamland.
I woke up this morning terrifically sore from my arm exercises. I headed off to the family history where I located various relatives in the 1900 and 1920 census, as well as in passenger immigration logs. I went to the Century City shopping center to go to the grocery store. I decided to treat myself to a movie, but when I got there, nothing was starting for an hour. With 14 screens, you think they could have a single film starting at all times. Oh well...
I made plans to go visit Matthew next week, in honor of Valentine's day. I will be staying for two weeks. In March I will be travelling to New York for one week to celebrate my grandfather's 85th birthday.
If my soreness has ebbed by tomorrow, I will do another arm workout. I wish my computer wasn't broken, because I have so much family tree info to add to my collection. I do hope I sleep better tonight...
11 46 pm pst [ a poem ]
Long long ago, when I was young,
rhyme did I make each and every my words,
and by some strange sweet miracle
the phrases flocked to me like birds.Birthday cards, especially to parents,
always came in ABCB rhyming form,
and once a school essay flaunted my stanzas,
though that was certainly not the norm. And suddenly inspired, by lord knows what,
I find my words dripping in similar sounds.
To locate what caused this sudden crazy craze,
I will have to bring out the sniffingest hounds.* * *
