Sunday 6 February 2000 Howard's Birthday
11 19 pm pst [ the sweetest man ] Howard, my mother's boyfriend of more than ten years, is celebrating a big birthday today. I won't say which one [wink]. Howard absolutely cannot come up in conversation without my mother declaring him the sweetest man alive and then getting teary eyed.

I am so glad that my mother found a man that makes her so happy. I am so glad that I found a man that makes me so happy. We are two happy peas in a pod. * * * My mother has been wandering around the house today singing Depression! Depression! Learning about depression! The cheery tune is in such high contrast to the subject matter, I can't help but giggle. My mother naver fail to have a blast together. We talk to the television, tell each other stories, enjoy good food, and laugh a lot. We feed each other's souls. And when I'm not around to take care of her, I am comforted knowing Howard is doing such a good job. Thank you again Howard for making my mother so joyous.

two years ago today: "A bit of explaining about the way relationships work nowadays. This is not to say that it always works this way, but I have had to explain this to my mother a bzillion times, so I thought I would offer this up to the rest of the non-twenty-something crowd. There is a wonderful (take note of my sarcasm) system by which people can date today (and sleep together) but not have a committed relationship." * * * one year ago today: "My boyfirend is such a cute peach pie. He went out in the rain and got me food because we were hungry, and I can't leave while I'm on shift. I am looking forward to Valentine's Day because I am a cheesy romantic at heart." * * * < yesterday |
