2 16 pm pdt   [ to the Troubadour ]

I spent an amazing evening with Karina last night. She was a fellow film student at Berkeley and I never spend so much time laughing as when I am with her. It is so wonderful to spend a few hours with someone truly genuine. We had din din at Chin Chin and then headed to the Troubadour. Just when I was really beginning to wonder about the old people in back of us in line, Karina and I learned that they were the parents of the lead guitarist for Angry Asphalt Machine. Said group had bussed in a troop of Bakersfield residents. Karina and I sat in the bar during their performance and I continually made jokes about the people from Bakersfield. We laughed away the minutes until Second Nature went on.

The Second Nature show kicked butt, although it was sorely underattended. It would have been worth the admission price just to see the lead singer do his back flip. Karina and I were absolutely groovin'. [Go on, be brave, buy one of their CDs based on my recommendation alone.] I will probably try to catch one or both of their upcoming shows:

Second Nature

10 May 2000
Whisky A Go-Go

15 May 2000
The Roxy

Karina and I opted not to stick around for Sluts For Jesus (can you imagine why?). Instead we trundled home. She spent the night (and we stayed up much too late talking). Only for Karina would I wake up at 5:30 am. I've got to spend more time with this woman!

two years ago today: "I assume this is because I grew up on Star Trek, but I always thought there were planets elsewhere. It never dawned on me that we had to prove such a phenomenon."

one year ago today: "I like computers, and I don't believe in spending 'too much time online' and other such ridiculousnesses that people complain about. My mom used to complain about how much time I spent on AOL, but now she is addicted to ebay. I have no doubt that if my dad (or anyone) gave the net a fair chance he too would be able to find a community."
