Rachel's Daily Diary

two years ago today: "I will haggle to get a few bucks off a damaged book or other item, but I shelled out several thousands of dollars to buy my computer. My dad clips coupons but paid for both me and my brother to go to private high school."

one year ago today: I didn't write because I was packing up my apartment.

Rachel's Daily Diary

8 04 pm pdt   [ graduation 2 ]

Today Matthew graduated from college. He got a half hour of sleep Thursday night finishing up his last 3D model, the took his last final yesterday (Friday) evening from 5-8 while I cleaned house with his best friend Evan. Last night we managed a 23 person dinner. Today we attended the graduation at 9, then had nearly thirty people back to the house for lunch.

By some sort of miracle, everything went perfectly. We had just the right amount of chairs at dinner, just the right amount of saved seats at the ceremony, just the right amount of lunch. It scares me a little when things work out so well.

I drank wine to try to relax after lunch, but I was running around playing hostess for so many hours that I just wound up being sore and indulging a substantial headache. Evan said something rude to me and I looked him square in the eye and said, "Fuck you." I swear so rarely that each time is a delicious indulgence. Then I got up and went downstairs where I am now. It's eight at night and still sunny out.

I'm going to have to go to sleep to lose this headache. No doubt the boys will be up late, and several are speaking of going to the city, but I can't really stomach that right now. The pillows look inviting, and all I need to do first is take a shower. Today was a scorcher. Why does heat make one so tired. Thankfully, I wore sunscreen to the ceremony, so I won't have to deal with peeling again...
