4 56 pm pdt [ a pervading feeling ]
There is a lot I want to write about -- bits and
fragments from the weekend -- but right now I am overcome by a pervading
feeling. Yesterday afternoon, in a flash, I decided I should seriously
consider getting an apartment. I popped online and began searching for
good apartment sites. I actually found one site with three promising
listings. I am looking for a place in Hollywood, ideally walkable from my
work, which is at Melrose and Highland, but I know how unlikely that is.
Rent would eat up a third to a half of my salary (as opposed to Matthew, who's rent is a tenth
of his salary).
And that brings me to this funny feeling. It's
Matthew. He's started a whole new chapter of his life, and I'm not part
of it in any way. We talk on the phone a lot, but there's something
inherently awkward about the situation. I don't know if it will lessen
with me starting my new job on Monday, but I am fairly certain it won't go
away. I'm really not sure what to do about this feeling, but I did let
matthew know I was feeling it...

I stumbled across a news article which revealed one of
the most brilliant ideas I have ever heard. If, by some chance, you don't
know what Napster is, it is a program which allows people to freely
exchange mp3s, which are near-CD quality versions of songs. Since one can
illegally distribute songs, several artists have sued (most notably,
Metallica and Dr. Dre). Anyways, this brilliant idea came from Offspring,
who are selling Napster paraphenalia via their website. Napster has
issued a cease and desist order because The Offspring is using their logo
without permission. This is the most brilliant retaliation imaginable!

Hey, do you know any good apartment hunting websites,
or have any advice on how to find a good cheap place in Hollywood?
