11 56 pm pdt   [ flying ]

Today was a good day at work. It couldn't have gotten worse, but it instead managed to get much better. An e-mail from my boss greeted me in the morning. It announced that we would be doing our demos "in the morning instead of the afternoon." Had I even known that we were doing demos? No. Had I practiced even once? No. I spent the first two hours of work setting up and practicing the first demo. I didn't end up finishing before I had to go watch one of my co-workers he. He was so nervous; my heart went out to him.

I spent my lunch break setting up the second demo. I didn't finish practicing it either before I had to stop and we all watched Doyle. Finially I had my turn. The two demos took more that an hour for my other co-workers to do. I have no idea how long mine took, but from my point of view it ended up flying by once I found my pace. When I taugh computer classes at Berkeley, half of my evaluations would say I went to fast and half would say I went too slow. I always figured that meant I was going just right,

Anyway, I didn't do anything horribly wrong, and nobody made any major criticisms during the discussion which ensued. Later, as the nervousness was wearing off, three of my co-workers privately told me that I did a very good job. By the time I heard it from the third one, I was high as a kite.

I went upstairs and ended up taking to my boss's husband for a while. We did talk about her a bit, and by the time I was back downstairs, I worried that it might have been inappropriate, so I went upstrairs to ask, and we wboth determined that we were both confortable. I am the queen of inappropriate, so I have to always check myself...

Life is interesting, isn't it? I'm doing my best to have fun and spread joy. I hope you are having a splendid day.
