11 32 am cdt [ mirror art ]
I am startlingly aware of how short the vacation part
of this trip is as Matthew
enjoys his tenth hour of sleep. I know he could go for fifteen if I
didn't eventually wake him up and try to get him moving.
Matthew made a good point about SIGGRAPH: it encompases
two entirely different events. One is all of the booths selling products,
offering demos and give-aways, catering to purchasers and consumers. The
other is people creating cutting edge art and technology in the realms of
computer animation and manipulation. These creative projects are shown
off in the art gallery and Electronic Theatre. That is what makes
SIGGRAPH of interest to me. The most stunning piece I saw was the
Wooden Mirror, and I was delighted to get a chance to speak with the
artist, and laden him with compliments. It was truly a spectacular and
delightful work of art.
