11 24 pm pdt [ sheets of her own ]
Mmmmm, my beautiful bed is calling to me. I am so
happy to be spending the night at home. My flannel sheets are my best
friend. You see, my flight from Houston, Texas to Las Vegas last night
was delayed nearly two hours last night (due to mechanical failure!) which
meant that I couldn't fly into LA until this morning. They offered to get
me into Vegas by 4 am and then fly me to LA at 7 am. I said I preferred
to stay in Houston. They said the first flight out this morning was at 6
am. I said no way. They said the next was at 8 50. It stopped in
Phoenix. I said there was no way I was going on anything but a direct
flight. If we stopped anywhere, I knew we'd get stuck there. Remind me
never to fly America West again.
So I got myself a stay at the airport Sheraton, with no
toothbrush, deoderant, or change of clothes. And this morning I got
myself on a 9 40 flight into LA. My luggage, which arrived at 8 pm last
night, was easily retrieved. I dropped it off at home, took a quick
shower, and headed over to work for the second half of the day. I even
stayed late. My new assignment, which I am really looking forward to, is
to design tutorials for our new product.
For dinner, Doyle invited me out with two of his online
hacker friends. Doyle asked me to
wear a dress, so I changed in under a minute. We stuffed ourselves at Chin Chin and then popped by
the beach to listen to the crash of the surf in the darkness. Exhaustion
has enveloped me...
