A replacement stewardess came into our section after dinner and looked at me and assumed that I was Dutch and just started spewing something that could never be confused with English. or 2. Just after dawn (at what I'll call plane time) we were over Greenland and there was not a cloud anywhere...it was really surreal...rivers of ice tens of miles wide....huge young mountains....places where people have yet to walk. Business class was an experience...champagne, excellent French medoc, 3 course dinner, yummy port, and the best cheese I've ever had. I enjoyed flying here Business class against my wishes (what was I thinking when I said, "no"?). When we arrived it was determined that the travel faries had also upgraded my room and not [my boss]'s. This definitely made me a tad uncomfortable. My room however is great and should make a perfectly wonderful home for the next few weeks. Driving in this city is going to be a royal pain...I do not think I was really prepared for a city full of people who cross streets like Berkeley students and taxi drivers that drive like [my roommate] drives the beloved striped Accord. Don't even get me started on the guys in the white vans...I would hate to see the average life expectantcy of one of those guys... I miss Rachel a great deal...It is really hard to comprehend how accustomed
I am to talking on the phone about virtually nothing for an hour or so each
day. I cannot wait till she is here! |
