Saturday 10 40 am

Dearest Pie of Peach,
How's is my sick sugar plum? I hope you take super good care of yourself. I'm sure you'll get better quickly if you get enough rest and stay out of the rain. I wish I could take of you now...

Work yesterday was wretched. The network was down, so we could use any programs because we couldn't access the liscence server. I asked [the system administrator] if we could just go home and he said, "You want work?" and proceeded to whip out crappy busy work like putting together manuals in binders and writing down the serial numbers of various machines. After I finished that I hid in Tim's office until three doing QA on his NT machine. Then I asked [the marketing guy] if I thought it would be ok for me to leave early since the network was still down, we were having cake in the afternoon, and I wasn't feeling so hot. He launched into some speech about how if I was sick I could leave but if I just didn't have anything to do he would find something. I explained that unless I an vomitting on my keyboard, I will never go home sick, but since I didn't feel so good and I didn't have anything to do, I thought it might me ok for me to leave. He said he would check what needed to be done.

I went and sat at my desk, nursing a headache. [The system administrator] suggested I go home. I went looking for [the marketing guy] but he had left the building, so I left him a note saying, "I'm sick. I'm going home. It's 3:15. Please let me know how to put this on my timesheet." I don't know why I'm so stubborn about saying I'm sick, but yesterday I just gave in to it.

It took me forever to get home, though one would expect the traffic to have been less at that hour. But I enjoyed relaxing for an extra two hours.

I ended up staying at my dad's much longer than I had intended to, and he brought Man-day over. We chatted for a while, and my father hid outside. I must really make him nervous around his women.

Sweety, I'm not sure which days we should stay with Rudy. Maybe the third and fourth (assuming we spend the first two in Amsterdam)? Or would you prefer to explore Amsterdam at the end of our trip? I really have no preference, hon.

My dad now says we should go to Salzburg (in Austria). There are so many more places to go than we have time for in our week that I will be pleased as punch to go whereever you want. Someone recommended that we take a canal cruise, which would be fun.

Can we go camping in the desert some time? I'd like to do that. I know this was a major non-sequitor. It's just an idea that popped into my head.

Well, I'm off to water the garden. My mom left very extensive instruction, which boiled down to water all the plants in pots and take out the trash. She left me a little travel toothbrush and (I quote) a little container perfect for taking salad dressing to work in. She also left me an article on how to eat vegerarian while travelling. I will report if there are any good insights...

I hope you feel all better, and didn't work to hard today....

          Love,
                    Rachel
