7 23 am pdt   [ a new year ]

"I made charoset today."

"Isn't that apples and wine?"

"And nuts and cinnamon!"

"But that's for Pesach."

"What?"

"Pesach. Passover. And it's not Passover time. It's Rosh Hashana time."

"Oh, I just think it is a yummy snack."

And I do. Charoset, so simple to make, is an absolutely delicious snack, which I have been making since college just because it tastes good instead of for the religious significnce.

But I hadn't really though about how close Rosh Hashana (the Jewish New Year) is. The year 5761 begins on 29 September at sundown. And that's when it struck me that it is almost October. Halloween and Thanksgiving and Christmas all line up and I have no idea how a new year is approaching when the last new year feels like it begun a few weeks ago.

Matthew will be coming down here for the weekend of 14 October (just in time to catch the next Groaning Mona show. Then I will be going up there the weekend on 21 October. We will be celebrating both our three year anniversary and his 25th birthday. I am very much looking forward to these celebrations.

[ 3 years of diaring... ]

three years ago today: Worked on my web pages again today.

two years ago today: I just received an e-mail from a self-described "late-night anonymous guy wandering around through gobs of html" which made this late night shift quite a bit more interesting.

one year ago today: I realize that all of my creative interests are linked to documenting, and always have been.
