I've been reading a lot online lately. For example, The Rise and Demise of the American Orphanage traces the ways in which orphanages led to our modern welfare system. It had never occurred to me to wonder what happened to the orphanages. I guess I assumed they were still around somewhere.

I have been reading a lot in conjunction with my genealogical research. I have learned about epidemics in the US and A Short History of Austria-Hungary and Poland. It's a bit sad, but basically the entirety of my historical knowledge comes from research I have done in recent years in conjunction with genealogy.

I have much less time during the day now than ever before (mostly due to my commute) so I have necessarily become more of an online girl. I am once again ordering and researching online for convinience and speed. I like having the internet as an avenue for accopmplishing necessary errandsm but I don't like feeling obligated to use it.
