Yom Kippur (begins at sundown)

9 02 pm pdt   [ detective ]

I spent a good part of yesterday evening trying to decipher the following:

part 1
part 2
part 3
part 4

The above locations are from the manifest of a ship which I believe brought a pair of my ancestors to this country in 1902. The fist word is clearly Hungary. The second word took me a long time. I decided it was some combination of the following:

B
Pi
Pe
erbac k
h

Not being certain of the first letter made it difficult, since cities are listed alphabetically in most cases, but I finally discovered Pierbach, Austria. Now what I need to know is if records are available for research in Pierbach, Austria.

The third word looks like something along the lines of Gesonsin. Those last two letters are a real mystery, especially since the last one sits on the rule line. This is the last word I need to decipher.

The last entry says Oshkosh, Wisc., which was my ancestors' destination in the states. I love finding little pieces of the mystery...

3 years:

three years ago today: I have decided that his native name will be "Dances With Keyboards."

two years ago today: Though I have a ton of work to do, I think the change of scenery will do me good.

one year ago today: My boyfriend is in town and I am just going to enjoy my weekend of love while it lasts...
