10 58 pm pst   [ webified ]

I've been composing this entry in my head all day today but I'm not sure if I can do it justice before my bedtime rolls around. I was on a plane back to LA at seven am this morning. That's love...

Today, I feel so... webified. Having a job for two years in which you are encouraged to surf the web will give you a heavy appreciation of the rare gems to be found. But eventually, you can get sick of it. It's a love hate relationship -- for everyone, I'm sure.

Services such as My Citi and My Accounts offer all your accounts stored in one location. I have web access to two bank accounts (CA and NY), two credit cards (Discover and Citibank Visa), my stock portfolio (tracked by The Motley Fool), my newly founded Roth IRA (from Vanguard), and ebay account, amazon.com and buy.com accounts, and the following frequent flyer meberships:

  • American Airlines AAdvantage
  • Continental OnePass
  • Delta SkyMiles
  • Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards
  • US Airways - Dividend Miles
  • United Airlines - Mileage Plus

I know it's a scary list.

I've been a member of most since elementary school. I have frequent flyer numbers for the-now-dead PanAm and Eastern.

I get United Airlines miles for using my club cars at Safeway, Pavilions, and Vons. I also have a Ralphs club card. I once had a Victoria's Secret charge card, but I've misplaced it.

I have wishlists (only to bookmark products I want to be able to locate easily later) at amazon.com, buy.com, and skymall.com. I have membershp numbers at WebMiles, myTrees.com and RootsWeb.com. In cleaning out old files today I found password information for FastWeb and Riddler.com. I have passwords for now dead sites such as things.com and the gathering.

My grandfather has several credit cards, and he pays for his purchase with different cards depending on which billing cycle he is in. I have always considered this one of the most ridiculous wastes of effort I have effort I have ever heard of, but then I look at the above list and ..., you know.

3 years ago today: This guy in back of me [I wrote this on paper during my French class] is breathing very heavily.

2 years ago today: I didn't write because I was working on the second edition of my book.

1 year ago today: Can you believe it, gentle reader? Rachel actually went out this evening and she promises details for tomorrow.
