I think I'll have to save my super-long description of
holiday food packing until tomorrow. I took some before and after
pictures that I can't wait to see side-by-side, but I haven't had a second
to upload them. On Wednesday I worked from 6:45-11 pm and yesterday I
went straight from work and worked from 5:45-11:45 pm. Tonight will be a
repeat performance. I'm not actually as sore as I thought I would be. My
little aches are delicious as they lick at my body.
Now that I am getting 'the word of the day' e-mailed from three different
sites I am surprised by how many of the words I know. Of course,
there are some I don't, which I would like to add to my vocabulary. I've
made a list to the right.
I backed up my drive from my IRIX machine at work
yesterday -- compressing six months into 170 megabytes. I'm sure I will
have occasion to visit a few times in the future, especially if I have to
drive to Hollywood for any reason. I will miss Tim the most. He's not at
work today because he's having surgery on a bleeding ulcer. I hope it
goes flawlessly.
I've turned over my key and signed all the necessary
forms. I got an optional exit interview questionnaire. I'm not sure if I
should fill it out honestly (it would be highly negative) or just leave
quietly. We have a staff meeting with our parent company in a half hour
and then we have our Christmas party lunch a half hour after that.
I've more or less accepted the LA job persuant to
details being worked out. When I said I wasn't sure about taking it my
soon-to-be boss specifically said that I could go visit Matthew and work
locally for several weeks at a time when the workload lull was sufficient.
I also had an old web client e-mail me today and ask for more work on his
site, which will be the perfect supplement to my salary. Lastly, Matthew
and I have finder's fee agreements nearly in place with two companies, so
hopefully we can find backed for at least one. It would be lovely to swim
in money for a while...
