11 17 pm pst [ whims ]

I do things on a whim. A friend of mine told me
that she was auditioning a movie about a girl who puts her life on the
internet. The film is called Rachel's Room. After the auditions I sent
the following e-mail:
If you didn't find what you were looking for this weekend,
give me a call or send me an e-mail. My name is Rachel. I made my first
webpage in 1996, called Rachel's Room
(http://cinemaspace.berkeley.edu/~rachel/). In 1997 I began my Daily
Diary online (http://diary.reinyday.com/).
It was a silly thing to do. But I couldn't think of
any reason not to. That was my same motivation for today's whim. I heard
an ad on the radio for a model search. I called this morning while I was
still in bed and I went this evening. It amused me. After the silly
speech I had my moment on camera. The guy filmming repeated my name like
I had made it up. He called me a cutey and then appraised me fully with
his eyes, complimenting my hair and saying I was "shapely". And then I
was done.
After I was home again, the real model show started.
My sister walked in and I
just had to photograph her. The only thing she enjoys as much as
posing is taking pictures of me.
[By the way, that's my sister in
the very top image].
So we giggled and struck poses and did normal sisterly
bonding activities. We had as much fun as the last time we took pictures together.

My sister saw a performance with my dad this evening. She was bubbling
over with excitement when she got home -- describing every comedic detail.

She is, having viewed the results, upset that I didn't
let her brush her hair before the picture-taking began. I specifically
wanted to take the pictures because she looked so different from me. She
also discarded a plentitude of photos because her braces were sparkling.

It's hard to watch. She changes every time I see
her. She looks different. She is different. She has different best
friends and is interested in different boys. She is caught in different
trend waves. We adore each other. We have fun together and drive each
other crazy. Just as it should be...
It was a fun evening. I am ready for bed. [By the
way, those are my eyes to the left.]
