10 10 pm pst [ night moves ]
Yesterday's dinner and
card-playing double date was magnificent. We ate at Spumoni's after a long wait. Matthew's
pasta putanesca had too many anchovies, but the rest of us enjoyed our
meals. When Dave leaned back and asked, "What now?" stuffed on his
gnocchi, I suggested game-playing in my traditional "couch seriousness in
a joke" manner.
They bought it, and Matthew suggested one of my
favorite card gamed ("oh no!") in lieu of a board game.
Matthew and I set about to teaching Dave and Kim to play the game, and I
decided that when I next move and have a "permanent" residence, I will
quickly establish a game night. I love to play.
Both Dave and Kim are actors looking to make it big in
LA. I am hoping to make a short film staring the love birds. Said film
will rely heavily on improv, which they are both excited about. All I
need now is a script, but I have two writers vying for that credit.
Today Matthew and I have driven all over town
completing purchasing for the studio that wants to hire me to do graphics
for their newest series. I am a bit uncomfortable with the $10,000+ worth
of equipment being stored in my living room right now.
These images are from the freeway drive from the studio
to Matthew's parents'. I so enjoy letting Matthew chauffeur me around
when we are together. He loves driving and it often causes me worry, so
the arrangement is perfect. We both love it. Apparently, the 405 to the
101 is the most traveled interchange in the country.
We transported
ourselves to the valley to spend the evening with his mother. We went
grocery shopping and got an absurd amount of "snacky food" for dinner,
including chips and salsa, a pineapple, Crispers and apple sauce, Spanish rice, and two
bags of cherry tomatoes.
I, of course, filled up on tomatoes and had to struggle
to eat the rest of my food. We rented Magnolia
(2000), which we are about to settle down to watch.
It has been a
beautiful and exhausting day with Matthew. We enjoy each other's company
so completely... We avoided talking about the future and simply
concentrated on the now. He brings me such joy and I am full of so much
love right now...
He'll be leaving at 6:30 am on Monday morning. I'll
miss him all over again then.
This maiden hair fern lives in the studio where I may
find myself working in the next few weeks. I am excited about having a
creative job, but I am going to try to negotiate for it to be just part
time because the pay just won't cut it. I do intend to move very soon,
though (of course) I am still not completely decided on whether to go up
north or stay in LA.
I discussed Matthew's lack of enthusiasm with him and
he said he wants me to live with him; he's just nervous. I find that
explanation good enough and he said he needs me to not bring him up for a
bit to give him time to work on being less nervous...
