I have two 8.5 x 11 sketch books (one for my maternal tree and one for my paternal) where I jot down notes, tape in letters, copy information when I'm at the library, and put the most recent version of each branch of the tree. Then I have a bunch of folder things that you can get at any stationary or office supply store. They are usually called report folders and they have slots for single pieces of paper. I always get the biggest I can find (usually 48 sheets) and then I put original and photocopied documents (and photos) in there. I have one for each of my eight great grandparents (though I only use four of them because some branches I have no documents for, and my entire paternal genealogy is in one folder together). I made a special folder for all the documents I got from my grandfather's house and I have another for blank forms (like vital record requests). It's a really small investment to have it all organized. I have old family photos in an Express Mail cardboard envelope. Probably more information than you wanted.... rachel http://www.reinyday.com rachel@cinemaspace.berkeley.edu
