10 36 pm pst   [ drawing naked people ]

I know you're probably sick of hearing about my genealogical research, but I've just got to share that I found out that two of my ancestors were issued permits to hunt prairie chickens in 1899. I must be losing my mind because right now just the idea of a prairie chicken absolutely cracks me up.

In more serious news, I've made a decision about my job. I am officially doing all of the computer graphics for the twelve episode television series Beyond the New Age but I will not be an assistant editor and thus I will have the freedom to get a second job or move up north. Matthew expects to move when his lease comes up in August, and he is hinting that would be an excellent time for us to get a place together.

The first episode of the series (not counting the pilot, which we finished last year) is on Eros & Aphrodite, and because the show is for cable, the director would like it to be a bit racy. In other words, I am going to get paid to draw pictures of naked people. Actually, I was sort of stumped, since the idea of "sex & love" visually conjures up little more iconography than hearts and babies, but today I got a nice long list of fun stuff to research and draw, such as demons, witches, churches, nuns, dancers, goddesses, etc. I spent a good portion of the day shooting footage and my back is sore from bending over the camera (the tripod had to be set very low for what I was filming).

I am so glad it is finally raining, as I have been putting off watering my plants in anticipation. Whenever Southern California gets a good soak, the native flora gets so happy. I have some rainforest plants I am hoping to sprout soon and I am hopeful that my banana trees will actually give me fruit this year...
