It was a grey day and Matthew had to wake me in
order to get ready for our 1 o'clock lunch date.
As we drove to Sausalito, he reminisced about his
old job and commute. I love when he shares his
past with me. I feel as though I know him better.

We were running just a little bit late and mat-
thew elected to ignore the directions and just
'FIND HIS WAY.' He did so with great ease. His
sense of direction astounds me.

Lunesse and DLJ have a fantastic apartment.
We got the full tour and I envied the wonderful
lived-in feel of their shared space. I hope I get
a chance to live with Matthew soon.

After meeting DLJ's former boss, as well as three
friendly cats, we hopped in the car and made our
was to a well populated stretch of road lined
with restaurants and stores. After we each with-
drew money from the ATM, we began wandering,
merging with the tourists as we looked for lunch.
Matthew remarked on the 'SEA-FARING NATURE' of
the town as the four of us strolled along and
laughed at the surprising number of unattractive
wares for sale. In addition to the stunning bay
view, there were plentiful sailboats and seagulls
posing for passers-by.

With a smile, I offered to buy Matthew a poncho,
and then I had to confess to Lunesse that I find
the word 'poncho' amusing and thus must use it
in conversation as often as possible. She nodded
as though she understood.

                      Eventually we arrived at our
                        restaurant destination. We
                          all hungrily located menu
items to suit our tastes. I had scrumptious risotto, and though I picked out
the mushrooms, I did my best to eat the bitter
spinach because I know it is full of good vitamins.

The conversation was non-stop and covered all
manner of topics. DLJ claimed that his clear
lemonade was very flavorful and my mouth
began to water. I ordered a glass for myself.

I departed to put more money in the parking
meter and when I returned to the restaurant I
couldn't resist a second glass.

We had a strange waitress and I made running
commentary on the older couple playing cribbage
at a near-by table, They specifically ordered
their lentil soup in bread bowls and then they
didn't eat even a bite of said bread bowls. I was
shocked. Everyone at my table had to hear about
it, and then I also shared a story from a few
earlier. Matthew and I were in the market and a
woman knocked a loaf of bread onto the ground.
It rolled out off its bag. Then another woman
approached and took the bread to purchase.
The lovely couple had spoken highly of both a
toy store and a candy shop. Thus we found our-
selves discussing the craftsmanship of the Buffy
doll, questioning the inclusion of a dead body
with the Scully doll, and commenting on the frog
hat that I insisted on wearing. The toy store had
an incredible selection of kitsch and we all spent
a bit of time playing.
But the toy store came after the wonderful land
of candy goodness:

Atomic Fireballs to Zots
Munchies
Candies from Around the world -- in Sausalito

The store-owner encouraged his patrons to sample
and candies which they were curious about, as
they filled their buckets with flavored sweets.
He recommended a different hot candy to Matthew,
and my beau spent the next ten minutes fighting
tears from his flaming tongue.
When we finally left we
made our way to Target
to buy new windshield
wipers for Matthew and
new white socks for me.

Once in Target I felt the
need to play with every-
thing. I made Matthew
take a picture of me in
an ugly orange hat. He
didn't fail to roll his
eyes at my behaviour...
