11 02 pm est [ and another and another ]
I research the family trees of each of my eight great
grandparents separately. Recently I was contacted by a man who's wife
knew nothing about her family tree. She is a distant cousin, and I sent
him a full lineage.
The family is from a region known in English as
Galicia. It is called Galizien in German, which was how it was written on
Fannie's marriage certificate. Galicia is the name given to the portion
of Poland which was occupied by the Austro-Hungarian Empire between
1772-1918. I don't know what city the family came from, but am doing my
best to find it.
A day or two later, I heard from another member of the
family on that branch. Then another and another. My e-mail got
forwarded from one relative to another and for two weeks I've gotten a
small flood of new information. It's great!
I am hoping to do some research at the public library
when they are not closing early for snow. I am probably going to see my
aunt and uncle on Saturday, and that is about it for my planned activities
on this trip...
