from my paper travel journal...

Long before dinner, Matthew had a glass of orange juice in the hotel. That was where he encountered the "Oh la la!" guy. Said guy wrote up an indeciperable list of recommendations for Matthew.

In the afternoon, Rachel succumbed to taking a nap, and once she was asleep, Matthew said he couldn't resist joining her.

At the office in the evening, picking up Dan for dinner, Matthew received a confirmation e-mail that he would indeed receive Formula One tickets in the mail at the hotel. He immediately slipped into a euphoric high. He arranged to get a list of hotels in Vienna, where they will stay during the race.

Matthew had trouble sleeping sue to an upset stomach. Rachel slept well, but awoke at 2 am from a nightmare in which she couldn't find her beau. Upon awaking, she called his name and he answered with words and by touching her fingertips. All her fear was alleviated.

Before enjoying their continental breakfast, Rachel had Dan translate for the hotel manager that Matthew was expecting race tickets via DHL.

Matthew secured a "visitor cubicle" for the day and Rachel set about posting digital pictures and transcribing this journal. Before lunch, Matthew invited her on a walk. They picked up a few items at the supermarché and admired the bonsais in the plant store. Then they fought the chill as they walked around the building in which they were working. Later they had lunch with Dan in the cafeteria before returning to the "cube".

At dinner time, all 3 were thoroughly exhausted. They returned to the restuarant where they ate the first night after searching in vain for another restaurant.

Rachel had tea before her meal but was unsuccessful in shaking her exhaustion. Matthew had fallen asleep on a table in the lab/classroom before leaving ______ and was sedate throughout the meal. Dan perked up at the end.

With dinner, Matthew had a 14-year-old Oban on the rocks. After dinner, he agreed to share a port with Rachel, and they were adventerous enough to try Tio Pepe sherry.
