^ Before we left our hotel in the morning, I requested
that we take photos out on the balcony. Matthew and I each took photos of
each other hugging the air and then I combined them on the computer. You
can see that the edge of the balcony doesn't line up as it passes behind
Matthew (I got lazy), but otherwise I think it turned out well...

^ Today Dan and I went to lovely Bern while Matthew was
teaching. Here's the view on the drive into the center (zentrum) of the
city.

^ This was a window display I really liked.

^ I thought Matthew would really enjoy this light
creature...

^ On the left is me in front of our hotel, on the top
right is a picture I took of myself in the classroom, on the bottom left
is the belt I bough in Bern, with the end curled into my belly button.
> Matthew said that having me in the room
would make him too nervous while he was teaching, so I sat in the
classroom next door and got caught up on my trip journal. I also
cancelled an erroneous hotel reservation and procured a map of Vienna.
But during these activities, I also snuck into the hall
and held the camera out so that it pointed into the classroom. I love
this shot of Matthew in the process of explaining something. He said that
his classes went really well except for the time on the first day when he
realized he was teaching with his fly open. He made a joke and rectified
the situation. I'm sure he'll be pleased that I shared that with you, hee
hee.
I think after all the stress he makes preparing for
teaching, the actual act must be a relief. Today, during his lunch break,
as we sat in the cafeteria, he said that he felt it had gone well. Later
he said his evaluations were also good, so I'm sure all went well. He's
very talented (and I'm very biased). Now his mum can stop worrying...

^ More shots of Matthew at work teaching...

^ In the upper left hand corner are two guys whom
Matthew and I talked to about Formula One. In the upper right hand corner
is the James Dean of Austria; I regret having taken the picture after he
finished his cigarette. In the lower right hand corner are two guys who
were taken with the James Dean of Austria, cursed at us in German in the
parking lot, and whom I refered to as "the hoods." Last is the sunset as
taken from the autobahn.
