[This entry is continued from yesterday's.]

So, Eleanor and Dan arrived shortly thereafter.

The four of us dipped into numerous topics. When the waitress came, Eleanor ordered a gin and tonic. Dan got chips and salsa and I asked for a popcorn bowl. She brought my saké with a small cup. As soon as she left I noticed that the cup was dirty and sticky, so I waited for her return. Upon her return she informed Eleanor that they had just gotten a new gun, and it had broken, so there were no tonics or sodas at all. I explained, "This cup is dirty; may I have a clean one?"

"Probably not."

"Well, can I have a different one?"

"That I can do."

Then she began fixating on my dirty cup, scrunching up her face and making many "Ew!" exclaimations.

The second cup she brought me was also visibly dirty, so I stuck to drinking out of the bottle.

After a long while, the playwrite and his lady friend showed up. When they sat at our table with the director I noticed that the other actresses and a male friend seated themselves at a nearby table. I began gesturing, assuring them we could all squeeze in together, and indeed we did. We absolutely packed our huge table, but then the conversations really flared up and the evening was chatted away on myriad subject.

It was great fun all around!

I wanted to write all about my fantastic adventure at SFMOMA yesterday, but I'll leave that till later in the week if you don't mind. I'd like to end with this:

I read your June 1st entry Rachel. I am very sorry that someone would leave you such senseless and callous remarks and i'm also sorry that they affected you so much. I hope that you know that for every one jerk who sends you ridiculous messages, there are a lot of us who think you write wonderfully.

I enjoy your pattern of writing (and now I know also your pattern of speaking). It is formal without being over-the-top and I have always enjoyed it.

I hope that you won't let someone who doesn't deserve the time of your thoughts deter you from continuing to write in the way that you do.

Take care!

You are just the biggest sweetheart for taking the time to write to me.

It just irks me that some diarist never get anything but super-nice worshipfull e-mail and I seem to get people who feel like putting me down for sport. I know, poor me. I really have nothing to complain about except the fact that I am over-sensistive, and if given the choice, would stay that way, because I like caring about other people's feelings. I'm sure I'll never stop being baffled that not everyone else is the same.

I know my writing isn't flawless and I know that this phenomenon partially results from the fact that I am overly-anal about getting some text down every day. I know I've settled for quantity over quality, but I don't see why people who don't like it can't simply follow a link off my site without comment.

Enough rambling. Amongst my crazed schemes of starting a genealogical society, getting some art displayed in a gallery, and finishing one of the myriad novels I started in high school, I am still jazzed about publishing an -- albeit off-beat and funky -- print magazine, and I believe you said you were interested. I'll certianly be mortified if it wasn't you, but if it was, do let me know if you are still interested.

And thanks again. You are too kind!
