1 52 pm pdt [ nude potluck in a mansion with Costco food ]
It's 1:52 pm pdt on a Wednesday afternoon and you're
wondering what I'm doing propped up in bed so enthusiastically involved
with my laptop. I'm being obsessive. I'm just so good at it. You see,
craigslist is this
super swell site with community postings. I first starting poking around
with it when I was researching for an article I wrote on volunteering
with and/or adopting shelter animals in the East Bay.
So yesterday I started playing with the other sections
besides jobs and pets, and I discovered the free stuff section. I love
free stuff. By the time Matthew got home from work I had picked out two
desks, and drawing table, and a filing cabinet we had to go look at
because we might want them. He was not thrilled at the idea of getting
furniture before we had a place. He's not thrilled about a lot of the
things I get excited about.
Today it got worse. I found the activity section.
First I e-mailed Matthew that I wanted to attend the Marin Fair next
weekend. Then I e-mailed him that I wanted us to perform in The Velcro
Symphony in two weeks. I e-mailed someone that I would try to attend
their 8-mile hike in Muir Woods this weekend. I e-mailed someone about
modeling and someone else about acting. I e-mailed someone about
attending their Pimps and Ho's party this Saturday. I e-mailed an older
man about being his walking partner for early morning walks in the
neighborhood. I e-mailed one of Matthew's roommates about someone looking
for a motorcycle riding partner. I e-mailed another of his roommates
about a local single woman (I'm always trying to set him up) and a group
called the Berkeley Dinner Club which organizes dinners at local
restaurants so local people can meet new people. Then I joined the Club.
Then I e-mailed him about a similar club for all of the Bay Area and
joined that one too. Next I e-mailed Lunesse about a local chefs
group. Aren't you glad I don't know your address?
I only stopped to write this entry when I came across
the Nude Potluck Dinner in SF. That just had me howling. I can picture
this large group of mostly male, mostly older people walking around naked
and eating cheap food in a mansion. It just cracks me up.
PS: If you are in the Bay area and are interested in the details of
any of these events, e-mail me and I'll hook you up.
