11 37 pm pdt [ day ]

We went apartment hunting today -- this time only three places. We were denied another apatment due to Matthew's credit. I was very bummed. I am frustrated when I am in a situation I am powerless to remedy.

In working on Their Green Song I have been going through my past entries where I mentioned or included photos of my plants. I seem to do all of my excessive buying in June and July. Perhaps I simply get itchy for plants this time of year.

So I had asked Matthew if we could stop by a nursery today. But after we ate lunch in our potential new neighborhood and then found out it was not going to be our new neighborhood, I was very low. I said I didn't want to go to the nursery, but we did anyway.

After we hung out at home for a while, we decided to go to Costco to get cheap gas and some food. On the way I remembered we had a housewarming part to attend in the afternoon. After Costco I requested we go to another nursery, but I didn't buy anything there either.

This is a baby bush I brought up with me from LA:

This is a Ginkgo leaf after a summer rain:

The party was a nice way to unwind and not think about myself. I got to see and catch up with a lot of old friends and co-workers from Berkeley. Matthew tried and enjoyed some homemade Thai curry.

I was very tired, having worn myself out with a full day of worrying about apratments, money, and credit.

I asked Matthew if we could stop at Chevys on the way home to pick up some chips and salsa. After two hours at the party, we headed out. We stopped at a garage sale down the street where a young boy was trying to unload the worst stuff. A sign read "Lemonade 25¢" and we ordered two cups. The boy's eyes lit up when Matthew told him he could keep the change from a dollar.

I was still feeling off, and probably will continue to until we have figured out where we are going to be living in two weeks. I just wish I wasn't feeling so emotionally taxed.

We headed to Chevys and then to OSH to buy some rooting hormone, because I am trying to create a fig tree bonsai. That was where I found plants to take home with me.

I got a Star Jasmine bonsai and a Nertera granadensis.
