6 27 pm pdt [ dragged ]

I dragged Matthew to an Estate sale before we went to his place to move the rest of his stuff. We didn't find anything we wanted, but I admired the Japanese motif in the house and was awed by the stunning bonsai-style tree in front:

As we packed stuff, I caught snippets of conversations from the perspective new tenants at Matthew's old place. "This bathroom is bigger than my dorm room was." "So I filed for bankruptcy. When you don't pay your creditors, they don't like that." "So how did you handle cleaning the common areas?" "I had a big TV in my room, so I would just eat in my room in front of the TV every night." "When I went back to school, my girlfriend still wanted to go out to eat and I was reverting to the Top Ramen thing." I wouldn't have wanted to answer some of the questions I heard asked.

When we got everything moved, I had time to repot two small trees that hijacked my bag of potting soil. I haven't been able to identify them yet:

The apartment is littered with stuff. Paper bags line the front hall and spill into the living room. But there's food in the fridge, and bags for recycling, so it still feels like home. I am amazed at how quickly I have adjusted.

[ 3 years: ]

three years ago today: An inventory of the plants in my apartment (not counting the succulents, which reside on His porch), reveals...

two years ago today: My mom once told me that her biggest regret was that she didn't raise my brother and I Catholic, but I have to say that I know I would have rebelled against even more so than I did my Jewish tradition.

one year ago today: It is a glorious day out, and I think that I should like to go read in the sun. I hope you are enjoying your weekend...
