_________________ 10 15 pm pdt [ smoke detection ] I don't yet know where the light switches are by touch. I know how the light plays across the various walls throughout the day. I don't yet know where my clothes are or where they go. I know which cupboards house which dishes and food. There's so much you take for granted about "home". Routines. Layout. Placement. Disarray. I have spot I leave my slippers by the bed before I go to sleep. My dentist said if I don't brush more often I'll get my first cavity, so now I've become and obsessive tooth brusher. We have a little toothbrush holder mounted on the wall in the bathroom. Sometimes I bump into when I'm looking for the light switch, which is on the other side of the door. My least favorite part of the apartment are the smoke detectors, which go off every time I cook, and once went off while I was pre-heating. How does one go about searching for a less effective smoke detector?
[ 3 years: ] three years ago today: The afternoon is roasting, and I am waiting for it to cool off before I take a shower, or the effort will be futile. Tomorrow I leave for LA. My summer is over -- at least my time in Berkeley. I have done a quarter of what I wanted to. But I worked a lot and enjoyed his company for nearly ever long hot day. two years ago today: I would have a baby now if I got pregnant. I take all of my visions of my future self and I rest a cradled baby in my arms. I see it. one year ago today: I am really pleased about the prospect of creating the tutorials for our new software product at work. Unfortunately, that isn't enough work for me, so today I outlined a redesign for our company's site and e-mailed it off to my boss and our marketing director.
