8 24 pm pdt [ ugg ]

I'm having one of those awful icky sick days. My period makes me quite ill once or twice a year, and today is the day. Matthew was super sweet, making sure I was ok before anything else. I think I had to take 6 Advil before I could walk around, but then we did our traditional Sunday farmers' market shopping spree.

I got a truly absurd amount of peas, and we also picked up some heirloom tomatoes and pear-apples. It was tremendously sunny and Matthew got a bit dehydrated while we were in Beverages & More of all places.

He doesn't do well with being uncomfortable -- too hot or hungry or tired. He gets very grouchy very quickly and there is little hope of him snapping himself out of such a funk. He knows how much I dislike it when he is in a bad mood for no reason, so he tries not to tkae it out on me, but today was something else.

We took our purchases (a large quantity of sparkling water, which we are now both addicted to) to the cashier and he ran off to find something cold to sip on, which turned out to be a French lemonade is a lovely slender glass bottle. He also got some cheese and salami, which I'm sure just the thought of made him feel better. People always assume that I'd have a vegetarian boyfriend when they found out I'm vegan, but Matthew is about far from it as one can get. His nick name is "Medium Rare" because he eats so much red meat. When we first started dating, he would eat extra meat around me just to assert his meat-eating-ness, but now he's mellowed. He still likes two double doubles at In-n-Out, but he hasn't cooked any meat in our new apratment yet, seeming happy enough with my vegan dishes. I'm so glad he's satisfied with what I cook for him.

[ 3 years: ]

three years ago today: Tomorrow is my last day in LA. My sister is beign an absolute pleasure.

two years ago today: My brother has returned from Ecuador, the car needs to be taken in yet again, and I am swamped with work. All I want is to finish my thesis and get paid.

one year ago today: I have learned to love the flavor that delights Matthew so. I miss him a lot just now.

30/30

The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) was just plain fun. Jaws is a funny bad guy. 4 stars

version 1
day 4

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1999)

We were looking for the day's movie when Matthew mentioned Snatch (2001), which he enjoyed very much. I liked Lock, Stock even better, so we opted to get it, since he had never seen it. I first saw this film on 24 March 1999. I like it more the more I see it. 4.5 stars
