2 27 pm pdt [ startling ]

I startle myself, with my capacity to ignore my family tree research for months on end and then obsessively concentrate on it for hours or days at a time. I've just slipped back into it. I was playing with the American Family Immigration History Center at Ellis Island and I think I found some more of my relatives. Of course, the records say they were born in Janowiecz, Poland, had relatives in Jenowoc, Poland, and last resided in Wisnowice, Poland -- none of which seem to exist. I'm not sure where that leaves me.

I just found the genealogy of the bible. Here is the decendency from Adam & Eve to Rachel:

Adam & Eve
Seth
Enosh
Kenan
Mahalalel
Jared
Enoch
Methuselah
Lamech
Noah
Shem
Arpachshad/Arphaxad
Cainan
Shelah
Eber/Heber
Peleg
Reu
Serug
Nahor
Terah (who died at Haran)
Nahor & Milcah (daughter of Haran, son of Terah)
Bethuel
Laban the Aramean
Rachel & Jacob
[Rachel had Benjamin and Joseph]

Then you could also trace Jacob's lineage back.
His mother Rebekah is the granddaughter of Nahor & Milcah.
His father Isaac is the grandson of Terah (who died at Haran).
That's a whole lot of intermarrying going on!

[ 3 years: ]

three years ago today: Jet setter that I am, I hopped on a plane at 6:20 am on Friday morning and made my way to Jacksonville, Florida for my sister's Bat Mitzva.

two years ago today: Rachel has been a very bad girl, and stayed up much too late. She has completely ruined herself for tomorrow, which she will probably need to be reminded of, as she will no doubt complain. Bad Rachel!

one year ago today: I also got an wonderfully long e-mail of advice from my Amsterdam form. I am really excited about the trip.
