6:26 pm pdt [ la gallina fina ]

"Que digan lo que digan, yo soy la gallina fina..."

I watched the chapter over and over to listen to the song.

I would have to say that The Tailor of Panama (2001) is an odd movie, one which was well constructed, but is a bit off. I'm sure every person who has watched it has either loved it, hated it, or felt there was just a little something missing. It's not a film you can just shrug off.

I put it on again this morning just to have something to listen to and was pulled by the music. I added the soundtrack to my wish list and then realized that the CD isn't the soundtrack (despite being titled as such), but rather the score. I wanted the song that comes between "The Vibrating Bed" and "Andy's Miniature Camera". The score to this movie is wonderful, but I really wanted the one song that wasn't on it.

I couldn't read the credits on the TV so I popped the DVD into my computer and tried to squint at them. I finally found a song that looked like it had more than one performer. I guessed that the fuzzy letters spelled Samy y Sandra Sandoval and I knew I was right when I came across samyysandra.com. This is the part where you start looking at me funny because you're beginning to figure out that this took a good portion of the afternoon. And I'm just beginning...

I'll skip all of the long ridiculousness and let you know that I figured out that the sond they sing is called "Gallina fina" (on their Grandes Exitos CD) or "La gallina fina" (as written in the film's credits). Of course, Amazon doesn't sell their CDs, so now I know the title, but I can't procure it...

This is the little nest I've made for myself on the couch, for me to heal in...
