[ dreamland II ]
I had a long dream. First I was staying in a huge house with some
people and there was a man under my bed trying to attack me. I had to
break out of the house to not be attacked, which was very difficult
because we were locked in every night. One of the younger daughters of
the house was trying to break out to see her boyfriend. I kept a diary of
events, and the mother of the house found it. She didn't know it was mine
and thought it was a great piece of literature, not recognizing herself
upon the pages.
Then I dreamt I had to pick up a repaired car for my
dad's friend Dennis. I was driving the car when it turner into a bicycle.
Now I was riding a bicycle with huge wheels, so I couldn't touch the
ground with my feet. I was very wobbly and unsteady, and I was riding
somewhere where there was a lot of bike traffic, as in Amsterdam. I felt
so bad for how I accidentally cut people off. Then I rode into a
supermarket. There was a beautiful fruit, speckled with purles and
greens. it was elongated on the end and immediately reminded me of an
orchid with its intricate shape. I grabbed one and was about to steal it
when I realized I am just too wimpy to steal. I asked a lady by the door
what it was and she pointed to a sign which described the orchid fruit.
Next I ran into my friend Karina, and as we were
talking some guy came up and started yammering at her in a foreign
language. Suddenly he kissed her and she got very upset. I tried to
distract him from bothering her by speaking to him in French, even though
I knew that wasn't what he was speaking. He came over and made like he
was going to kiss me. I started screeming "Mariée" or however you
spell "married" in French. Suddenly I had a balloon in my hand and I
wrapped the ribbon around my ring finger to show him. I didn't want some
random man kissing me and I knew it would make Matthew unhappy.
Next, Karina and I got in line to pay for our food (I
was getting the orchid fruit and she was gettin black-eyed peas. There
was some spilled food on the belt at the register, so it wouldn't move,
and a woman came over to fix it because the woman at the register didn't
know how. Karina got in a discussion with the fixing woman about ethnic
food. Meanwhile, I saw the kissing foreigner in the line next to us. I
said, "Are you working on getting your highschool degree?" and his two
friends made a low murmer of approval of my insult. He retorted that he
had done the repairs on Dennis' car and that they had come to $400 but I
had paid $500 and he hadn't given change. The repair bill was $1300 so I
felt Dennis was going to get a very good deal if we only had to pay $500.
I was deep into my dream when I woke up because my
entire hand was asleep. Matthew told me he had dreampt about
protecting me from being attacked and about old-fashioned bicycles
(the ones with one big wheel). Strange!
