[ on being vegan... ]

This is a message I posted to a forum on Saturday, October 20th:

for those of you who are vegan... i was just curious about what you don't eat/use other than meats, dairy products, and leather/wool stuff. like specific types of foods and oils...

For me it really is mostly meat, dairy products, and leather/wool/suede/silk.

Medicine is difficult, because gelatin isn't vegan so you have to be careful about what you swallow when you have a headache or cold. Finding vegan vitamins is easy.

I don't wear any make-up and I think it's easy to find alternative shampoos and such, especially if you shop online:

GreenMarketplace.com

www.bodyshop.com

Also, drugstore.com does a good job of describing cruelty free products. I bought my boyfriend a bunch of soap for his birthday (he's a clean freak) and was very pleased with:

Here's a longer list of cruelty-free and vegan companies:

I do not purchase any Procter & Gamble products because of their cruel testing practices. This is difficult, as they make almost all laundry products and a ton of cleaning supplies, etc. I recently read the 80% of US households have Procter & Gamble products in them.

Here is a ton of info on P & G's cruel practices:

Here's a list of their products to avoid as well as alternatives:
