The Halloween party we went to last night was strange and fun and I ran into a friend from film school that I haven't seen since graduating. We left early, but Matthew was still exhausted when we got home.

This month's collab topic for On Display is "Where were you when?" This topic fails to inspire me. I've written about where I was when the Challerger shuttle blew us, when planes crashed into the world trade center, when I lost my virginity, when I met my boyfriend, when I started my diary... The topic of "Where were you when?" makes me feel young. I was in middle school during the gulf war. The Beatles and JFK were long before my time. I have a nostalgia towards eras I never experienced. The past calls to me and I obsess again over family tree. But nothing feels monumental enough to deserve a "Where were you when?" entry.
