01.) I drove to work today. I went in reverse for the first time, which
means I've now done all the gears. Woo hoo! I didn't stall the car at
all, but it made me very nervous.
02.) I had a great time reading to the little kids at
work today. I love the way they stare with their jaws slack when they are
really engrossed. We went through three books. One was about the
reflections you can see in puddles and afterward we went out in the
courtyard and peered into puddles for a while.
03.) I spoke to Rose again. She said, "Sight unseen, I love you." I said "I love
you" back and we both got off the phone filled with joy.
04.) I didn't get a chance to speak with my sick
pseudo-grandmother, but I had the kids at work help me make a huge Feel
Better card for her. It has a fabric tree, drawings of dolphins and
children, and hearts in every color of the rainbow.
05.) I stopped at the bank and supermarket on the way
home. This meant that I got home late. When I arrived, I met Matthew headed out the door to
look for me. He had been very worried when he got home and I wasn't
there. He must have said, "I'm so glad you're home!" seventy times, and
every single one made me feel loved.
06.) Matthew and I sat on the couch and went through
the
top 100 foreign language films from the Landmark Theatres poll. I had
seen 34 and he had seen 18. We giggled a lot and I got very animated when
I began explaining a plot to him or when i tried to puzzle out if I had
seen a movie of not.
07.) I love getting mail, but when I saw that the package was from an
unfamiliar name in Chicago, I was really stumped. I've just moved and
almost no one has my new address. I discovered an interesting book on
film inside. There was no note, and I was still puzzled. Then it
occurred to me to check the first page. I discovered that my autographed
copy of Michael Gebert's The Encyclopedia of Movie Awards from Devon
(of JiffySquid
fame), which was such a wonderfully thoughtful gift because I am
always on the hunt for more good movies to rent.
