I want to know about your film studies. What do you like most about
film: directing, editing, digital compositing, theory, etc. Have you made
anything?
I went to a private school that offered a few film
classes, so by the time I went to college, I knew I wanted to study film. The school I went to focused
on theory, not productions, so instead of making films we read and
discussed Freud, Lacan, Walter Benjamin, Trotsky, Marx, etc. I was just
happy to watch films for 4 years.
My favorite part of film is editing and my favortie
types of films are documentaries and action films. I enjoy visual
effects, including compositing, and I recognize how important sound is,
while most people seem to focus on the visuals.
While at school, I made the following films:
- Nine Minutes in the Kitchen with Cindy
- My Campus
- Dancing Plants
- gravity
- Strip
- Arkin
When much younger, I made a film called Blu: The
Movie. I have worked on a director's reel for a feature film, and on
several short and/or student films. I am currently editing the film
Sleep/Awake by Karina Cameron.
Dancing Plants is my only film that has screened
in a theatre thus far. It was screened in the show "DIGITAL DREAMS: NEW
WORKS BY STUDENTS FROM THE DIGITAL MEDIA PROGRAM AT UC BERKELEY" in
December of 1999.
