First things first. Grampa had a quadruple bypass
surgery today. It went well and he is beginning his recovery. I think
everyone is feeling relieved. This was all so sudden.
Second, today I sent fan mail of sorts to the guy who
runs Common
Errors in English -- a site which a logophile such as myself can get
all drooly over. I found an error and had a suggestion, so I used the
oportunity to tell the author how much I enjoyed the site (especially the
non-errors page).
Then I had to do another fan-maily message. Let me
start at the beginning. One day I stumbled across imood. At first I thought it was pretty
cheesy, especially since I am not a fan of little smily face icons. imood
records your feeling (in one word) every time you bother to visit the
site. It let's you add that word to your site like this:
I currently feel
.
You have to select an icon, so I always select the one
without a mouth. Anyway, I was thinking it was sort of fooey, but then I
got into it. There's something sort of Zen about having to stop and come
up with a single word to sum up my emotional state. There have been a few
times when I've had to really pause and say to myself, "Self, how are
we feeling just now?"
I have a friend who I thought might also be interested
in tracking him moods, so as I was composing an e-mail to tell him about
it, I remembered having downloaded and installer for mood tracking
software. It took a quick search to again arrive at moodstats.com, grab the latest
version, and get it all set up.

There are three required categories and three optional
ones that you select. I set mine all up and this is approximately how it
looks:
| Mood |
Creativity |
Stress |
Adventures |
Fitness |
Kindness |
| 8/10 |
3/10 |
1/10 |

| GGG had
his surgery today. |
I want to
make a lot of stuff. I need to get to editing this
weekend. |
The
surgery is over and went well. I am home with no obligations but to
relax. |
A new guy
came to visit at work and didn't he have a million dollar
smile. |
Walked to
my car. |
I was with
the middle schoolers, who are always taxing, but I did my
best. | |
It actually looks a lot nicer than that with nifty
sliders and whatnot, but you get the idea. And speaking of the visitor at
work, can I just say tasty? He was tall, thin, Asian, with the most
radiant smile I've encountered in a long time. Isn't it fulfilling just
to be in the room with someone so full of life? It was for me, and I was
only in the room with him for ten minutes.
[PS: I park far away, up a hill, so walking to my car
before work is actually a workout.]

Photos from the neighborhood where I park. Didn't that
work out nicely!
