11 45 pm pdt [ another night ]
Tonight Matthew and I were invited to join a bunch of
miscreants at 111 Minna. Since I didn't know a thing about the place, I
did the cusomary internet research (Matthew got us a router(!) so we can finally both be online at the same time). I
located 111 Minna's citsearch page and found the description to
be intruiging. The page had a "Best of 2001" award on it, so I decided I
would make my own checklist of all of the "Best of" Nightlife winners and
try to use it to convince Matthew to go out more often. Here is the page in progress.
But we didn't go out, because Matthew was too tired.
And really, I have to give him props for going out on Monday night. We're
going to try for Friday also. I am so motivated to shake my thang.
Speaking of which, two junior kindergartners were dancing in line the
other day singing, "Shake what yo mamma gave you!" which really cracked me
up. On Monday, one of the kids forgot his last name, which I thought was
too cute for words. But today was the best. Kids at this school don't
get homework until first grade. During study hall, three kindergarteners
showed up and begged my to give them homework. So I made some little
fill-in-the-blanks sheets and promised them something more formal in the
future. They want homework! So I already printed some worksheets off the
web and I am designing some more.

Last night, there was some idiot who kept revving his
car engine over and over at midnight. Matthew had made some absurdly
strong tea and I decided I was going to go confront theis guy and call the
cops (because in addition to him revving his engine there was another
idiot who kept screaming "shut up!" as though that was helpful). I don't
know if it was the powerful tea or the adrenaline rush of an impending
confrontation but I realized I was physically shaking because my heart was
beating so fast. Anyway, as soon as I decided I'd go out and deal with
the idiot(s), he stopped, and I noticed that a cop car stayed parked when
the incident had taken place for many hours after. Needless to say, I had
quite a bit of trouble getting to sleep...
