> how are you??
Ok. Well, not actually. 2002 has been a bad year. I
don't even know if you want to hear any of this, but here's the short
version:
* In January one of my friends got [in a really bad
accident]. He's better now, but I was visiting in the hospital every day
..., so that was really stressful.
* My grampa had a heart attack. Then he had quadruple
bypass surgery. The surgery went well, but then he had some
complications, so he went back into the hospital. He was rereleased
yesterday.
* My mom sold our childhood house. Not very tragic,
but there was a lot of stress about moving whatever foo I had there.
She's just bought a new house in Ojai and continually reminds me that she
would like me to fill it with grandkids asap.
* My mom called me a few weeks ago to tell me that she
broke up with her boyfriend of 13 years. She called me THREE days later
to tell me she had married some other guy [she had, in fact, married
before she even told me about the breakup]. I've met my new step dad
twice. He's in a wheelchair (not a big deal) and has a brain tumor (a
very big deal). So my mom will be living with this new guy in her new
house in Ojai.
> so tell me what is going on with you, how matthew
is, how life is...
Heh, you really asked for it...
Since I made a list of stresses, here are a list of
good things:
* I work at an elementary school. The pay is not
spectacular, but the kids are a riot. I was recently told by one that "if
you don't wipe your bottom, things will grow there." I have a new funny
story about them every day. Also, my supervisor is really cool and we
have instituted a weekly bar night for after-work drinks. I should hope
that the idea of me as a regular at a dive bar is as funny to you as it is
to me.
* Things with Matthew are great. We just celebrated
our 4.5 year anniversary (!) and he took me on a surprise trip to
Yosemite. We are thinking of moving this summer [probably to Mountain
View]. We love living together.
* I've become really close with my sister lately (my
half-sister who lives in Florida; she's 16). My brother is doing a
semester abroad at Oxford and I will be visiting him in June.
* I have a good life. I'm healthy, I'm actually
exercising, we have regular game nights that delight me to no end, I'm
doing some creative projects, etc.
* I've become quite the little club-goer. Since I
never went out dancing when I was in school (since I didn't have a cool
international ID) I'm now making up for lost time...
* I won tickets to see Baryshnikov! Orchestra seats!
I'm sooooo excited...
Ok, this e-mail is much too long.
I would really love to hear from you. I'm bummed that
I am totally lost about your life. Tell me about work, love, sex,
passion, food, play, everything! I really want to know.
I may be in NY before the end of the month to visit my
grandfather. I think the weekend of May 18th. I really must see you!!!

^ At dinner with Lunesse and DLJ, I had a great time
but was uncharacteristically self-conscious.
