10 16 pm pdt   [ right on ]

Tonight was a winner. After dinner my dad and I walked outside to see to Santa Monica cops -- their trusty bicycles parked nearby -- standing next to my dad's car which was hoisted up onto a tow truck. Ten minutes left in the meter and we learn that my dad's registration is unpaid. Bye-bye car. The whole experience is made worse by both the cops and tow truck guy talking to me like I am stupid. I just can't stand that. I had to work hard not to tell the tow truck guy that it was illegal for him to be driving without a seatbelt on, while he was spouting city ordinances. At least it happened with me and not while my dad was on a date.

In other news, my mom is spending her first night in her new house tonight -- sans her new husband, who she is not planning on living with for a year. It was also my dog's first night in his new home. I am sure he will not be disappointed by the enormous new yard he gets to sniff centimeter by centimeter.
