11 27 pm pst   [ eventful ]

Today was eventful. We woke up early to try to get Matthew's tire repaired in time to race. It turned out to have what Matthew described as a 15-inch gash in the sidewall, which would seem quite difficult to aquire. After determining that it was irreperable at a place with expensive tires, he found exactly what he wanted (for the rears) at Costco, so away we went (being very bad hosts and leaving Mark at home alone).

There was a long wait and they had a lot of trouble trying to get one of the tires onto its wheel [for those that don't yap endlessly about cars, tires = rubber, wheels = metal].

By the time we left, it seemed like Matthew would be a few minutes shy of getting to the race befpore the registration closed. To give him an extra push, I had him drop me at the freeway exit and I walked home. It was a little warm...

At home I ate, showered, got Matthew's things, and set out to drive Mark home. I had a great time in the car with him. I made it to Golden Gate Fields after Matthew's first run, but in time to see his second and third. He hit cones on both of those, still learning the capabilities of his new tires, only a few hours old.

I requested dinner at Kathmandu, since we decided to eat in the area. It wasn't to open for a half hour [it is open at 5 every day of the week] so we wandered along Solano Ave. until Matthew suggested we go saké tasting. Matthew treated my to new shoes (tatami zori) and a new wallet (I've had my old one for more than 10 years and it is really falling apart!).

After saké tasting, we had one of the five best meals of my entire life! Each of us enjoyed a full order of vegetable momos and a bowl of lentil soup (daal). In addition to the normal spicy topping Matthew enjoys, they had a new condiment called "apple sauce" which was some apple and horseraddish thing ladden with spices and amazingly tasty. I was so stuffed when we left. We caravaned back to our place, again talking on our walkie-talkies the whole way.

four years ago today: I didn't write because I was on vacation before my last year of college.

three years ago today: When it comes to home improvement projects, I won't complain and I don't give up.

two years ago today: The steam rising off the water was so inviting.

one year ago today: To the best of my memory, I've never felt like this before.
