The Great Checklist:
I got upset by what someone said to me at work. I knew she was under a tremendous amount of stress, and I knew she wasn't trying to hurt me, but I was still upset, so rather than confronting her, I just went into an empty room and had myself a cry. Then I went back to getting stuff done. We were in a real time crunch to get stuff done today, as I'm fairly certain all teachers are before their school year starts.
I discovered we have a new child in our room. Enrollment seems to be booming this year, which is good news all around. However, this meant we needed to scramble to get another parent folder, art box folder, and student file set up.
All in all we got a lot done. I went for a training session with the new photo printer. Very spiffy! I want one of those bad boys at home...
Anyway, later on, Ms. Stressed Teacher again snapped at me and I again left the room. But I was still upset by the time we all gathered for a final staff meeting. I sat in the back of the room and put on my sunglasses, but some of the teachers noticed I was crying and I could see them point it out to others. It was kind of surreal.
The extra attantion was not what I wanted at that point in time. What I really need is sleep. I can tell I'm not functioning at full power.
The thing that greatly cheered me just occured. Last night I had our traditional dinner gathering without Matthew, since he is out of town on business. After dinner we went to Starbucks, where I ordered my traditional large hot chocolate with soy milk (no whipped cream). I always insist on saying "large" instead of using the Starbucks terminology for large. I think it's sort of a game now where I just want to see what will happen. Will they:
- ask me if I want "a grande or a vente"?
- act confused?
- be flustered?
- be amused?
- correct me?
- just give me what I ordered?
Last night the kind barista just gave me what I ordered. I gave him a five and he gave me my two dollars change. I put them in the front of my wallet so that I could enter them later.
Today I pulled the two bills out. I entered them into Where's George? and began to put them back into my wallet when I noticed the back of one had something stamped on it. I had caught a Wild George. I went back to the bill page, which I had not been paying attention to, and saw that this bill had indeed been entered 74 days ago in San Francisco.
This bill has two stamps on the back. One on the upper left corner:

and one on the upper right corner:

Now I've also handwritten a note on the front. I'll just have to wait and see if it shows up again.
