_________________ 7 11 am I was never a big fan of Valentine's Day. I don't hate it the way a lot of people do. I don't run around saying "Hallmark made up this holiday." I wouldn't buy a premade card anyway; I would make my own. But, like New Year's, I think it's a lot of hype. This year I feel as though I've opened my eyes to an ever-present trend in the media. I feel (from the very limited advertising I am exposed to) that the advertising field spins Valentine's Day as: What are you going to do for your woman? Doesn't that seem strange to anyone? Why is it his job to spoil me on this day? So I called Matthew up yesterday and said I was going to be the boss of V.D. and he was not to be involved. I could tell he was pleased, though embarrassed, the latter being Matthew's normal response to everything. I'm planning to take him to his favorite restaurant, then to see a V.D. performance at a comedy club (where they are having a husband-wife team perform stand-up. Then, I think then next day we'll go for massages. I'm still working on how to turn this into Valentine's Week. | ||
