The current plan is that I will fly up to Berkeley on Monday, but I haven't actually bought the tickets yet because I can't really afford them. I supposed I will just have to cash in on the anticipated money from upcoming birthday, Chanukkah, and Christmas gifts. My mom decided that today would be a good day to celebrate my birthday, since I'll be in Berkeley on the 6th, so she gave me gifts when I went up to visit her and my dog before the lovely dinner I had with her, her boyfriend Howard, and my man. My mum gave me a CD of Bernard Herrmann movie scores, 2 pairs of shoes (one pair of dressy, and one pair of me beloved New Balance. Then she told me she had two more presents. She said that she anticipated me starting a collection. My mother has been trying to start me on a new collection these past few years (I liked the idea of collecting antique perfume bottles the best, but none of her ideas were financially feasable for me) but she has probably succeeded now. This will be a collection that only she will contribute to, and that I will make good use of, and which will delight us both. In light of my failed mission to aquire a 50's prom dress on our cross country trip, my mother gave me two authentic vintage prom dresses (one mustard yellow and one pink [and especially frilly!]); she hinted that there would be several more for Christmas. After the holidays I will have to take pitures of me modeling each outrageous one! |
