Monday, 19 October 1999 - Tuesday, 26 October 1999

On Tuesday, we actually managed to get directions, and we drove to the château, where we enjoyed a fantastic week of relaxation. Angles-sur-l'anglin was my favorite of all of the places I visited in France. I actually did a decent job of communicating in French, and my father was fantastic. Saturday, the 23rd, we spent the night in Tours, and we finished out our trip in Paris.

paper journal excerpt:

"They arrived in Tours and visited l'office de tourisme to get directions to Villandry (south-west) and Vouvray (east). Then they went and check into their hôtel, which was nearby. After a brief rest, they set off for Villandry despite the fact that the rain had resumed. Rachel successfully navigated and, just as they arrive, the sky cleared and the sun came out. Rachel et Papa could not have been more delighted, but Papa said that he was hungry and so the went to eat first.

"Villandry is one of the places Rachel most wanted to see -- a château most known for its gardens. She did enjoy her meal (tomatoe salad and french fries) but she was very excited to go see this French wonder."

random tidbit: Most of the French radio stations play a mix of French and American songs, and each radio station has a name which shows up on the digital display for the radio in your car.
