I've been walking about a lot lately, which I am enjoying.   Today I went to visit my aunt at her work.   It was a zoo there, but it was nice to see her.   Walking back, I was staring at this guy on his cell phone.   People usually get really uncomfortable, and someone breaks the look, but he and I both smiled at each other at the same time.   It was great.   I like making that kind of mini connection with someone.   So I was in a smiley mood, and got another one on the next block.   Crossing Park Avenue, a guy pulled in front of me in his purple minivan and gave me a rose, saying, "This is for you."   I thanked him and pressed on home.   Now I have a perfect peach rose sitting in my room.   My dad took the opportunity to tell me that there are a lot of sickos in New York, when I told him the story.

My grandfather, aunt, and I had dinner together, at the same place we ate at the night before.   My grandfather had been going on about the fact that none of the regulars were there last night, but I didn't know what that meant until tonight, when I met one of the waiters who has been serving him for about 7 years (through two restaurants).   I asked my aunt if she had ever thought of living anywhere besides the east coast, and she said no.   I personally like the change of moving, and think new climate, flora, and such.   My dad ran from the east coast weather as soon as he got a taste of California, and I know he has never looked back.
