Tomorrow (actually today) I think I will go to the library.   I want to play with their vital records indexes.   I recently found out from my grandfather that his parents were married in New York as opposed to in Europe, which I had though.   This means I can get a copy of their marriage certificates, which will hopefully list their parents names (and mother's maiden names, she thinks with her fingers crossed), which I currently don't know.   I can feel myself getting closer to finding them, and this is my favorite part of this personal mystery I am solving.

My newest realation I have contacted wrote to me about genealogy:

I am delighted to find your interest. You are a refreshing blossom on the tree.
I am very much looking forward to meeting her.   She has written a lot of cookbooks.   Her husband sounds very sweet too!

I watched Bette Davis In Now, Voyager last night.   I look back on the early decades of this century with envy.   I wish we still lived in a time when people got dressed to the nines just have dinner, and women of wealth went on long luxurious cruises around the world.   I have next to no patriotism, but I love the history of this country, and would be happy to be plopped in most any decade.   I want a man to ride around with me in his carriage, wait four months to kiss me, and bring me exotic perfumes wrapped in pretty papers.   Not that women have had much freedom throughtout this century, but you have to know how to play your cards...
