Of all the thing to make a girl laugh, a search for "define bummy" will produce my November 97 entry and one other page.6 10 pm edt
I watched Wings of Desire (1987) today, which came highly recommended. I really live fellow cinefiles, but they tend to know names and I do not. I can recommend movies, but I tend not to know the names of their directors and certainly not the actors (hence, my confusion). It is great to have an obsession (in my opinion, as always), but it need not require one to look down upon a fellow enthousist who does not have as much knowledge.6 23 pm edt
So, I was about to unsubscribe to the two journalling mailing lists I am on (Diary-L and Journal-L) becuase I found that it was making me feel bad. I do not especially consider myself as a real member of this online diarist community, mostly because I don't read other diaries. I was feeling as though there was some sort of popularity contest, which I was ignoring, but people tend to write some very mean-spirited messages, and I was feeling as though I didn't exist. Then someone mentioned living in Berkeley, and someone else wrote:Oooooo! And if we're gonna go that wide of a radius, there's the lovely Ms. Rein, as well.and I thought, "Hey! Someone noticed I was here!" I hate feeling as though my opinion doesn't count, just because I'm not part of the "in" crowd. I can't be bothered to try to do what is trendy (I used to hate being trendy, and would do the opposite when I found myself in that position, but now i just don't pay any attention). And another post of mine was responded to as "Right on girlfriend *giggle*". Sometimes the opinions of others [unfortunately] are important to me. I just needed one person to remind me to keep trekking, and I got two!11 22 pm edt
I just had a chat session with one of my old profs, Alex. I am really delighted with the relationships i developed with my teachers while at Berkeley. By the end of the first week, they always knew my name (because I was nerdy and sat in the front row and talked a lot) and I always called them by their first name's (habit, from my [private] highschool). There was Seth (who's recipe I have here), who's class i took freshman year and whom I continued to talk to every time we ran into each other until I graduated and left. Anyway, Alex just opened up a "talk" session with me, and seems to be loving life working at the premiere venture capitol firm in "the valley". And his wife is pregnant with their second son. What more can he want (besides a daughter)?
